There are many different events and parties organised to celebrate the brand new year but we have come across one in Spain that looks quite spectacular. For 20 years now the residents of Coin have had a fancy dress party that puts others to shame. They are so proud of their annual fancy dress party that they are trying to get it declared to be an “Andalucian Festivity of Interest to Tourists”.

According to the Interactive Media in Retail Group (IMRG), 4.8 million people are expected to spend around £153 million on Christmas Day alone. Many companies start their sales on Christmas Day and each passing year is seeing more and more people looking for a bargain on the 25th of December.

Fancy Dress will invariably play a huge part at Up Helly Aa 2011. During this years parade on Tuesday 25th January 2011, hundreds of flame-bearing Guizers will dress-up in costumes ranging from Viking fancy dress costumes to more typical 'Transvestite Tuesday' costumes which, may feature guys in drag. The procession will light up at 19:30 on the Hillhead in Lerwick and embark on a lengthy walk and progress to the final location of the burning site by Harbour Street.

Today is the day after Grand National winner Tony McCoy won the 2010 BBC Sports Personality of the Year with 40 per cent of the vote, so why mention a 25 year old commercial promoting everyone's favourite sports replenishment beverage? Well, if you'll be so kind as to hand me the the tenuous baton of weak links I'll remind you that 25 years ago Lucozade underwent a huge transition in re-branding their product, utilizing one of our biggest faces in sports at the time, 1982 BBC Sports Personality of the Year Daley Thompson as its advertising figurehead.

It seems Jokers’ Masquerade Fancy Dress are not the only fans of the festive Brussel Sprout this time of year, Burger King are getting into the swing of things and releasing a new burger called the Sprout Surprise Whopper. The limited edition burger will be available from today up until Christmas Eve in many of the restaurants. The new burger contains a Brussel Sprout puree with Emmental cheese coated in a herb crumb.

Yes, you read the headline correctly, fancy dress is indeed now playing a role in helping save the endangered Panda population. Hetaoping Research and Conservation Centre for the Giant Panda, in Wolong Nature Reserve, Sichuan Province, China are looking to put the first Panda cub born in captivity back into it’s natural home in the wild for years.
