Santa's Had Enough
Wednesday, December 7, 2011
At this time of year a question that you may find yourself thinking is, where is Santa? The answer to that festive question is a little harder to answer than it is to ask. Here at Jokers' Masquerade fancy dress, however, we have attempted to answer the question 'where is Santa' with the response of "somewhere cold". So, what is he doing right now? We began to think.
We put this short video together with a little help from Thatcham Garden Centre in an effort to bring a little early Christmas cheer, to have fun and to entertain our customers. By the way, if you are wondering which Santa costume is in the video it is our excellent Bad Santa costume and looks superb in person just as it does in our Santa's Had Enough video.

This month we celebrate the 70th birthday of the first comic book appearance from one of the first widely recognisable female superheroes. For seven decades Wonder Woman has been a staple of various comic books and has provided herself as someone for female readers to look up to in the male dominated world of crime fighting superheroes.
One of our favourite superheroes here at the Jokers' Masquerade offices, Wonder Woman first appeared in All Star Comics #8, December 1941. Running for just over ten years, the comic was one of the early acquisitions that merged with National Periodical Publications to form the modern-day DC Comics.

The 26th of November, this coming Saturday, in fact, at the time of writing anyway, will mark the 146th birthday of one of the best known titles ever written, Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Here at the Jokers' Masquerade offices we are pretty keen on Alice in Wonderland. It's a superb book and the Alice in wonderland costume range that has been created seem to really bring these characters created by Lewis Carroll to life.

This year the Ladbrokes World Darts Championship will be held from the 15th of December to the 2nd of January 2012. It will mark the culmination of the PDC darts 2011 calendar and will be broadcast live on Sky Sports. Personally, I link this time of year to being off work for the Christmas break, it's bitterly cold outside like a lemon eating a Magnum. Yes I know, I'm painting a picture here. Anyway, it's probably snowing and I'll find myself round a friends house and almost always the PDC world championship darts from the Alexandra Palace will be on Sky.
But why do you have an interest in PDC darts here at the Jokers' Masquerade offices? Well, it's simple really, like a large number of people in the country, we are swept up in the dramatic action that has seen a huge make-over in recent years and, we can usually spot dozens of our costumes in the audience.

Here's an interesting bit of trivia for you. The first ever zebra crossing to be officially implemented in the UK was in Slough, Berkshire, on October 31, 1951. How we forgot to share that fact on Halloween is remarkable. The zebra crossing has been a prominent feature on British roads for six decades, yes, the road safety measure that you and I take for granted daily is 60 years old. The same age as Dean Kamen, inventor of the Segway. But fancy dress and road safety we hear you cry! Yes, there is a vague connection in the form of a Green Cross Code Man fancy dress costume, read on, The 60th annniversary of the zebra crossing is more interesting than you might think.
