Pinterest Finds: 5 Horses Wearing Fancy Dress Costumes

Horse Costume

You can find pretty much anything on Pinterest if you look hard enough. I came to this conclusion after I decided to search for 'horse costume' on the picture sharing website. Following a brisk review of the different images that have been pinned and repined, I managed to decide on my 5 favourite horses in costume images. In no particular order, here they are for your own entertainment.

If you find this page looking for horse and jockey fancy dress make sure you stop by our sports costume hub, where you can find horse riding costumes and similar.

Black Horse And The Cherry Tree

Likely one of the advantages of owning a black horse is that you can do things like this with him when it gets to Halloween, you can paint your own skeleton costume on the odd-toed ungulates.

After a little scouring of the web, it appears that painting your horse (sounds like a euphemism, don't you think?) to look like something from Jason And The Argonauts is not that uncommon. Many horse owners seem to take advantage of the opportunity to create something potentially terrifying. Imagine driving past a dimly lit field on Halloween night and only seeing the white of the paint glance by from the corner of your eye. That's scary stuff!

Chestnut Mare

Believe it or not there is actually a horse under the fuzz there somewhere being trotted along for some kind of horse show. Notice the girl handling the steed, it has likely been taken at a costume contest of some kind as she is also decked out in prehistoric wear donning a cave girl costume.

I really like this photo because there's obviously been a lot of care and effort taken into creating the woolly mammoth costume for the horse. Hopefully it's okay under the rug.

Strawberry Roan

This photo looks quite old, the more you study it the more things you notice, 80s looking trouser legs etc...

This horse dress-up is quite clever, don't you think? If you already have the horse why not work with the tools available and create something original. That's exactly what we have here.

Can't seem to find the origin of this one but if you take a look on the web there's loads of similar costumes that have been created to enter shows, competitions and for a Halloween costume. This remains my favourite rocking horse though due to the girl in the saddle taking the time and effort to also dress up.

Commanche The Brave Horse

No idea what's going on here so had to investigate a little.

The Bonfils-Stanton Foundation presented something called Denver Night, a free public event celebrating Denver's unique cultural community back in July 2013 and this horse was used as part of performance artist Nick Cave's evening ending show. The horses like the one on the left are wearing Soundsuits so that the materials makes noise when the horse takes strides. Regardless of the function, the appearance alone looks very cool. Very Mardi Gras and also a little car wash.

Back In The Saddle Again

If you're in the business of selling horse and/ or pony rides and you have no gimmick to pull the punters in, take note of this ingenious idea. I imagine kids would love to do this. Not only can you ride on a horse, but, you can also go for a spin in the Mystery Machine from Scooby Doo.

We're not entirely sure if the chap to the right of the equine has intentionally dressed in a Velma costume , regardless, it looks like the horse is about to bite his groin off and drag him about the floor pelvis first. I do have a strange imagination.
