Pinterest Finds: 5 Dogs Wearing Horse Masks

You might see some strange images on the Internet, and in our ongoing series of unusual costumed happenings we'd like to document another anomaly that we've come across on Pinterest. You might have seen people wearing horse masks before doing various every day things, this meme however goes one gallop further. People are putting their horse masks on their dogs to create tiny horses. Here's 5 of our favourites images that we've discovered so far.

Starting To Stirrup Emotion

As far as we can ascertain, the origins of this image trace back to January 2013 when it was added to the entertainment and social networking service Reddit by user jacobmclaughlin. It looks to me that a bunch of kids that are sat around studying got really bored and decided to transform their pet into a minuscule mare. Obviously not everyone would drop their workbooks and attempt to amend their family pet but then, there's no need to be a neigh-sayer.

Obviously we don't need to tell you, if you do feel the need to put your horse mask on your own dog make sure it's one of these ones that has plenty of ventilation! Also don't leave it on for prolonged periods of time, that's not cool.

The Mask Won't Be On Furlong

We've traced this image back to its first posting on the comedy website CollegeHumor back in August 2012. It features a pensive looking mutt that, in the light in which it was photographed, looks absolutely amazing. The mask nicely blends in with the pooches fur. Due to the mask facing the deck doesn't he look like a tiny depressed horse? We love this one though, it's a great photo, he's obviously a beautiful dog and makes for a splendid looking horse.

If placing a mask on your pet's bonce doesn't appeal to you, yet the ideal of dressing him or her up does, be sure to take a moment to peruse our dog fancy dress costumes hub. There's loads of dress-up options for dogs both grand and compact in size.

From A Stable Home

We think that this image comes from one of the co-founders of PandaWhale, an Internet entertainment website. We've tracked it back as far as December 2012, which is the first tip-off that we're right as there's a Christmas tree in the background. It features an unimpressed child confronted with the family dog, now a slight steed. We can't help but notice that there's only about 3 presents under the tree. Either not big givers or we join the family mid-parcel-ripping.

If seeing these dogs getting in on the costumed action is making you want to join in, be sure to take a ganders at our animal fancy dress costumes for humans category.

He Mustang Out With The Wrong Crowd

We think this one is another Reddit user added image. It features a dinky little Basset Hound either on Halloween or the day after in 2012. It was uploaded by user ireallyshouldbworkin, who is an apparent dog lover. There's quite a few images like this on Reddit and I find this one to be of the finest ilk. Why? I'm not so sure. This photo is the kind of imagery that finds its way onto Pinterest by a varied route of networking and sharing. As far as Basset Hound's go this one does a superb job and is one of the cutest horses, we've seen so far.

This One's Foal Of It

Exploring the Internet archives for a particular image can be a little taxing. This person nicks this image and then that person nicks from them, it's like a maze of bastardisation. We've tracked this image back to a post on the content aggregation website Funnyjunk back in March 2013. It almost looks like Rick Moranis has been let loose with his shrinking ray from Honey, I Shrunk The Kids.

If you have a dog much darker than this one and you'd like to see what they look like if they were a shrunken Black Beauty, you should take a look at our black horse mask . It looks just like the one pictured but crafted in a black colour.
