Our Medieval Plague Doctor Halloween Costume is a brilliantly unique fancy dress idea inspired by special medical physicians who treated plague victims in times of plague epidemics in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries! We think it will be a huge hit at Halloween.
The Medieval Plague Doctor Halloween Costume comes with a long dark robe with a distressed leather-effect finish, and a black belt attached to the front. The robe is fastened with Velcro at the back of the neck. This closely mimics the garments worn by the plague doctors in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries and was a protective suit consisted of a heavy fabric overcoat that was waxed - maybe the hazmat suit of its time?
A matching collar with a hood is also included to cover the head and shoulders, completing the medieval appearance of the robe.
Also includes a white leather-effect long beak mask with dark stitching, creating a very authentic menacing look, to give real impact. In the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, some doctors wore a beak-like mask which was filled with aromatic items. The masks were designed to protect them from putrid air, which (according to the miasmatic theory of disease) was seen as the cause of infection. Don't fancy filling your mask with petals, or lemon balm? You could always use sweets?
Most plague doctors also wore a distinctive hat, which was typically worn by physicians during the time of the plague, to identify their position as a doctor. What better way to stand out? So we've included a black, leather-effect, wide-brimmed hat to complete the look. Also the outfit comes with a black belt that is fixed with Velcro across the front of the robe.
With our Medieval Plague Doctor Halloween Costume you'll be treating you and your friends to a real Halloween treat...with or without the Plague!

Nice to wear a costume with a mask that does not make your head sweat. Great looking costume and well made.
Is a good fit. one slight niggle is maybe the hood needs a clasp on the front of the neck to close it up as per the picture.
A great costume that definitely stands out from the usual vampires and zombies. The mask is a little on the uncomfortable side as the part that gives it shape kind of digs into your forehead. A little padding should do the trick, and I added a clasp to the cowl to conceal the otherwise open neck. Slightly overpriced for the material used; would have been 5 stars if it was a bit cheaper.
I personally think it is not worth the money you pay. It looked like I was wearing a bin bag for a costume. The only good thing was the hat and that is at a push.
