The Size 9 has a footbed of 10 1/2 inches, which should work well for a size 9 foot, so starting there makes sense. If you prefer a little extra room or plan to wear thick socks, the Size 10 with its 11 1/4 inch footbed could be a comfortable choice too.

Q: The length on these boots are fine. But they are slightly narrow, and will be uncomfortable throughout the day. Based on the material, is there anything that can be done to loosen up the width? Possibly a small slit at the widest point where the material meets the sole (to relax the fit)? Suggestions please. Thanks.

The boots are faux suede with a spandex-blend lining, so the material does have a small amount of give naturally. A shoe stretcher designed for width can help coax a bit more room out of faux suede without damaging it, and a leather or fabric stretching spray used alongside one can speed that process up. Cutting a slit at the sole seam would risk separating the upper from the sole entirely, so that's one modification worth skipping.
